Arsen Avakov appointed Minister of
Internal Affairs of Ukraine

Arsen Avakov is the Ukrainian public and
political figure .
Born on 02.01.1964
Education: Graduated (1988) Kharkov Polytechnic
Institute, automated systems management, system engineer .
Nationality – Armenian
A citizen of Ukraine.
Total work experience – 33 years. Started as
an engineer in Kharkiv.
In 1990 he founded one of the first in
Ukraine stock companies – JSC "Investor", and become its president.
In 2002 Avakov was elected to the
executive committee of Kharkiv City Council.
During the presidential election campaign
in Ukraine in 2004 he was deputy head of the Kharkiv regional headquarters of
presidential candidate Viktor A. Yushchenko, First Deputy Head of Kharkiv
Regional Committee of National Salvation.
In March 2005 he was elected to the
Council of the People's Union "Nasha Ukraina", member of the
Presidium of the party.
February 4, 2005 resigned from president
position of JSC "Investor" .
February 4, 2005 by decree of the
President of Ukraine was appointed Head of Kharkiv Regional State
February 9, 2010 , has resigned from his
chairman post of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration, protesting against
systematic steps of V.Yuschenko in supporting V.Yanukovych in the presidential
election, (Law of Ukraine on Civil Service Part 3. 31 "fundamental
disagreement with the decision of the public body or official, and ethical
barriers to the civil service").
April 21, 2010 joined the party
"Bat`kyvshchyna" and accepted the offer from its leader, Yulia
Tymoshenko, to become a head of Kharkiv regional organization of this party. Is
a member of the political council of the party.
In October 2010, Avakov participated in
the election of the mayor of Kharkiv . However, as stated by international
human rights organization “Freedom House”, as a result of massive violations,
result of mayoral elections in Kharkov was changed in favor to Gennady Kernes .

From September 2012 to December 2013 was
in Italy, in political exile because of criminal prosecution by the authorities
for opposition activities. Request to Ukraine Interpol extradition was rejected
by the Court of Appeal of Rome October 18, 2012 . In its judgment the court
ascertained the nature of political prosecution Avakov and recorded fact of
electoral justice in Ukraine .
October 28, 2012 for parliamentary elections
Arsen Avakov was elected deputy of Ukraine VII convocation in multi-member
districts. He was number 24 in the electoral list of the political party
Chairman of the Subcommittee on
Legislation of Ukraine for the status of “deputy of Verkhovna Rada
(parliament)”, Committee on Rules, Ethics and Support to Work of Verkhovna Rada
(Parliament) of Ukraine .
Member of the Interparliamentary
Cooperation Commission of Verkhovna Rada(parliament) of Ukraine and the Federal
Assembly of the Russian Federation.
Member of the Permanent Delegation to the
Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation.
February 27, 2014 was appointed Minister
of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
