One of them
concerns failure of Ostchem
group to pay UAH 5,7 billion to "Naftogaz" for the delivered gas, the second - loss by
Ukraine of the case about 11 bln cubic meters of gas
in the Stockholm court. The Minister
told this in an interview to the on-line news service "Ukrainian
Arsen Avakov said that MIA is investigating two criminal
proceedings against companies of Dmitry Firtash. The main case was that the Ostchem group did not pay NAK "Naftogaz"
UAH 5.7 billion for the delivered gas.
After the opening of criminal proceedings and beginning of investigation
"the debtors have started intensive negotiations with the NAK "Naftogas".
"To date, the case is not closed but we have a
settlement agreement between the NAK and the Ostchem
group, the essence of which is that they will pay the full amount. As they recognized the amount of the claim
and pay everything, including penalties and fines for delay, it cancels all
demands on our part" - said Arsen Avakov.
He also noted that currently about UAH 400 million had
already been paid and by the end of the year the government may receive more
than UAH three billion additionally.
Concerning the enterprises, which are located in the territory occupied
by the militants, the agreement is reached to defer payments for a year.
The second case, according to the head of MIA, is more
serious. The Ukrainian state lost 11
billion cubic meters of gas as a result of the sudden change of the Ukrainian
position in the Stockholm arbitration court.
Another 1.3 billion cubic meters were seized as compensation for
MIA believes that such change of the Ukrainian
position in the international court of arbitration was a malicious criminal
act. Thus, about six months ago MIA
opened criminal proceedings. It includes also some materials received from the
French law enforcers. Now investigative activities are under way within this
